Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings, Calls for Unity and Development

On Monday, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.

At an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also the Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his well-wishes in anticipation of the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.

During the event, Xi emphasized China’s commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025.

He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with the central tasks, serve the country’s overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths. Xi encouraged them to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation’s development.

Xi underscored the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) by 2025 and laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem’s protection.

He added that the ACFIC should guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.

Xi’s remarks set a tone of unity and collaboration for the upcoming year, emphasizing the collective effort required to achieve the nation’s developmental goals and to foster an environment conducive to innovation and progress.
