Xi Jinping Extends Spring Festival Greetings, Calls for United Efforts Towards Development Goals

In a festive gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended warm Spring Festival greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.

The event, held ahead of the Spring Festival—which falls on January 29 this year—saw Xi, also Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasizing the critical role of unity and collaboration in achieving China's development goals.

Focus on High-Quality Development

Addressing the attendees, Xi outlined China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the nation's focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology.

\"To sustain sound social and economic development in 2025, we must concentrate our efforts on innovation and quality,\" Xi stated. \"Greater self-reliance in science and technology is essential for our nation's progress.\"

Call for United Efforts

Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with the central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.

\"Your contributions are invaluable,\" Xi noted. \"By uniting our efforts, we can achieve the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan and lay a solid foundation for the next phase of our nation's development.\"

Preparing for the Future

Emphasizing the importance of the year 2025, Xi underscored the need to achieve the goals outlined in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025). He also highlighted the significance of formulating proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

\"We must mobilize all positive forces to advance development,\" he said. \"Active contributions to comprehensively deepening reform and promoting high-quality development are imperative.\"

Environmental Stewardship and Private Sector Growth

Xi stressed the necessity of addressing critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He called for enhanced efforts to preserve the vital waterway's environmental integrity.

Regarding the private sector, Xi encouraged the ACFIC to guide businesses in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He advocated for establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.

\"A thriving private sector is key to our nation's prosperity,\" Xi remarked. \"We must support entrepreneurs in their endeavors to innovate and grow.\"

The gathering concluded with a collective commitment to the shared goals and aspirations for China's future, setting a hopeful tone for the upcoming Lunar New Year celebrations.
