In a heartfelt gesture ahead of the Spring Festival, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Xi Jinping extended warm festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front. The gathering took place on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. Addressing the assembly, Xi, who is also the Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, highlighted the significance of collaborative efforts in achieving the nation's development goals.
Xi emphasized the implementation of more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He underscored the importance of focusing on high-quality development and enhancing self-reliance and strength in science and technology to ensure sustained social and economic progress in 2025.
He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. Xi encouraged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and resources for national development.
Highlighting the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi stressed the importance of achieving these objectives by 2025 and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensive reforms, promote high-quality growth, and participate in formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He highlighted the significance of ecological conservation in the nation's development agenda.
Xi also urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He encouraged the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, fostering a vibrant and innovative business environment.
