Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended festive greetings to non-CPC personages ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival. The greetings were conveyed during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday.
The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. In his address, Xi emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among all sectors of society to achieve China's development goals. He urged members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and personages without party affiliation to focus on the nation's central tasks and serve the country's overall interests.
\"China will implement more proactive and impactful macro policies, focusing on high-quality development and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology,\" Xi said. He highlighted the need to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025 and underscored the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025).
Xi called upon non-CPC political parties and the ACFIC to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and participate in formulating proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He emphasized that safeguarding the environment is a shared responsibility and crucial for sustainable development.
Regarding the private sector, Xi encouraged the ACFIC to guide entrepreneurs in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features. \"The private sector should continue to play a significant role in driving innovation and contributing to the nation's economic vitality,\" he stated.
As China ushers in the Year of the Rabbit, Xi Jinping's remarks highlight the nation's commitment to unity, innovation, and sustainable development, inviting all sectors to contribute to the country's future progress.
