Beijing, January 25, 2025 – In a spirited gathering at the Great Hall of the People on Monday, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended warm Spring Festival greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other united front representatives.
As the Chinese Lunar New Year approaches on January 29, Xi, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving China's development goals for 2025.
\"We will implement more proactive and impactful macro policies, focus on high-quality development, and promote greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology,\" Xi declared, highlighting the nation's commitment to sustaining sound social and economic progress.
He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the country's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths. \"By rallying broader support, building consensus, and pooling wisdom and strength, we can achieve remarkable feats,\" he asserted.
Xi underscored the critical importance of meeting the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He encouraged non-CPC personages to mobilize all positive forces to advance development and actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He urged concerted efforts to safeguard this vital natural resource.
The ACFIC, Xi added, should guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and confidence in development. \"Establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features is essential,\" he noted, emphasizing the private sector's role in China's economic landscape.
As the nation prepares to welcome the Year of the Snake, Xi's message resonated with a call for unity, innovation, and collective effort to propel China toward a prosperous future.
