Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended festive greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.
During an annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday, Xi conveyed his heartfelt wishes for the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
In his address, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. \"We will focus on high-quality development and promote greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025,\" he said.
He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with the country's central tasks and serve the overall interests. \"Leverage your unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength,\" Xi urged.
Highlighting the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi underscored the need to lay a solid foundation for the nation's future development. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Xi also stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He called on the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
The gathering reflects China's emphasis on unity and collaboration among various political and social groups, especially as the country prepares to usher in the Lunar New Year.
