Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings on Monday to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the upcoming Spring Festival.
During the annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also the Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, shared his warm wishes for the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
In his address, Xi emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving China's development goals for 2025. Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He encouraged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation's advancement.
Highlighting the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi underscored the need to lay a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality growth, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the importance of tackling critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He urged for concerted efforts to preserve the river's ecological integrity for future generations.
