In a gesture of unity and goodwill ahead of the Spring Festival, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.
During an annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday, Xi conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
Addressing the attendees, Xi highlighted China’s commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies in 2025. He emphasized the focus on high-quality development and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to ensure sustained social and economic progress.
Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with central tasks and serve the country’s overall interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and contribute wisdom and strength to national development.
Underscoring the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi stressed the need to lay a solid foundation for the next five-year plan. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promote high-quality development, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Xi also highlighted the need to address critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem’s protection, emphasizing environmental stewardship as a key component of sustainable development.
Furthermore, he encouraged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
The annual gathering serves as a platform for the CPC leadership to engage with non-CPC personages, fostering unity and collaborative efforts towards the nation’s goals.
