Xi Jinping Extends Festive Greetings, Calls for Unity Ahead of Spring Festival

In a gesture of goodwill ahead of the Spring Festival, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings on Monday to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front.

During the annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of unity and collaborative effort in achieving the nation’s goals for 2025. The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.

Xi highlighted that China will implement more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies, focusing on high-quality development and enhancing self-reliance and strength in science and technology. These efforts aim to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025.

He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks, serve the nation's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.

Xi underscored the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development and actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection.

He also urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
