Chinese President Xi Jinping extended warm Spring Festival greetings to members of non-Communist Party of China (CPC) political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other united front participants during an annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday.
The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year, is a time for reflection and renewal in China. In his address, Xi emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among all sectors of society to achieve the country's development goals.
\"We will implement more proactive and impactful macro policies, focus on high-quality development, and promote greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025,\" Xi said.
He called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with central tasks and serve the nation's overall interests. Xi highlighted the unique strengths of these groups in rallying broader support, building consensus, and pooling wisdom and strength.
Highlighting the significance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021\u20132025), Xi underscored the need to meet the targets set for 2025 and lay a solid foundation for the following five years. He also encouraged contributions toward the formulation of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026\u20132030).
Xi stressed the importance of addressing critical and challenging problems, particularly in the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. \"We must tackle the tough issues in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River to ensure sustainable development,\" he remarked.
Addressing the private sector, Xi urged the ACFIC to guide businesses in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He advocated for the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
