Xi Jinping Chairs CPC Leadership Meeting to Review Key Reports and Future Strategies
On Monday, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, led a significant meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee in Beijing.
The meeting focused on reviewing a comprehensive report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau, following detailed discussions on work reports submitted by the leading Party members' groups of China's key state institutions. These institutions include the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.
The attendees also examined opinions on advancing ecological protection and promoting high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, a region of critical environmental and economic significance in China.
The meeting acknowledged the substantial achievements made by the leading Party members' groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. It was emphasized that in the coming year, these groups must prioritize effective action, collaborate to push forward reforms, and contribute to China's high-quality development and modernization.
The Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was urged to enhance its political capabilities, strengthen self-governance, and diligently accomplish all tasks assigned by the CPC Central Committee.
Highlighting the importance of the Yellow River Basin, the meeting called for comprehensive efforts to fully enforce the Yellow River Protection Law. Initiatives were discussed to systematically enhance water source conservation in the river's upper reaches, reinforce soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches.
Ensuring the safety of crucial dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure was stressed, along with the need to align the river's high-quality development with broader regional strategies, such as the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region.
Moreover, the meeting underscored the importance of preserving cultural heritage and promoting the integration of cultural and tourism development in the Yellow River Basin, aiming to foster both ecological sustainability and economic growth.
