Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The meeting focused on reviewing important reports and discussing strategies to promote high-quality development and ecological protection in the Yellow River Basin.

The Political Bureau reviewed a report from its Standing Committee after hearing and discussing the work reports of the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was also reviewed.

During the meeting, the achievements of the leading Party members' groups over the past year were fully recognized. The Political Bureau approved their work plans for 2025, emphasizing the importance of implementing tasks, pushing forward reforms, and contributing to high-quality development and Chinese modernization.

The Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was urged to enhance political ability, strengthen strict self-governance, and accomplish all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.

A significant focus of the meeting was the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin. The meeting highlighted the importance of fully enforcing the Yellow River Protection Law to ensure the sustainable development of the region.

Efforts will be made to systematically enhance water source conservation in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches. The meeting called for ensuring the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure along the river.

The Political Bureau emphasized the need to strengthen the synergy between the Yellow River's high-quality development and other regional strategies, such as the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. There will be a focus on improving the holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage and promoting the integration of culture and tourism development.

The meeting underscored the CPC's commitment to advancing ecological civilization and high-quality development, with the Yellow River Basin playing a crucial role in China's overall development strategy.
