The gathering focused on reviewing critical reports and setting the course for the nation’s development in the coming years.
The meeting delved into a comprehensive report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. It discussed the work reports of the leading Party members’ groups from key state institutions, including the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People’s Court (SPC), and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP). Also under review was the work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.

The meeting approved their work plans for 2025, emphasizing the importance of unity and reform to propel high-quality development and the modernization of China.
“In 2025, the leading Party members’ groups of the five state institutions must prioritize action, pool their strengths to advance reforms, and contribute anew to high-quality development and Chinese modernization,” the meeting noted.
The Secretariat was urged to enhance political capability, strengthen strict self-governance, and diligently accomplish all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.
Ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin were highlighted as significant focal points. The meeting underscored the need to fully enforce the Yellow River Protection Law to safeguard this crucial ecosystem.
Specific strategies were discussed to enhance water source conservation in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches. These measures aim to ensure the sustainable health of the Yellow River, which holds immense cultural and economic importance for the nation.
The meeting also called for efforts to ensure the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure. It emphasized strengthening the synergy between the Yellow River’s high-quality development and broader regional strategies, such as the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region.
Furthermore, there was a call to improve holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage along the Yellow River Basin and to promote the integration of culture and tourism development. These initiatives are expected to enhance the cultural vitality and economic prosperity of the regions surrounding the Yellow River.
