President Xi Jinping chaired a significant meeting of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on Monday, focusing on ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.
During the meeting, reports from the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), as well as the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, were reviewed and discussed.
The meeting recognized the achievements of these groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. Emphasizing the importance of action and reform, President Xi urged the leading Party members' groups to prioritize effective implementation and contribute to advancing high-quality development and the pursuit of Chinese modernization.
A key focus of the meeting was the ecological protection and development of the Yellow River Basin. President Xi called for comprehensive measures to promote the enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law. He highlighted the need to enhance water source conservation in the upper reaches, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches.
The meeting also stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of vital infrastructure like dams and reservoirs. It called for strengthening the synergy between the Yellow River's development and regional strategies, improving the protection of cultural heritage, and promoting the integration of culture and tourism.
By addressing these critical issues, the CPC leadership aims to foster sustainable development and ecological preservation in one of China's most significant regions.
