Xi Jinping Chairs CPC Leadership Meeting to Review Key Reports

Beijing, September 25 — Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, presided over a significant meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The meeting focused on reviewing comprehensive reports and setting the course for high-quality development and ecological protection in the Yellow River Basin.

The Political Bureau reviewed a report from its Standing Committee after hearing and discussing the work reports of the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The meeting also examined the work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.

Recognizing the accomplishments of these leading Party members' groups over the past year, the meeting approved their work plans for 2025. The focus for the coming year is on prioritizing effective implementation, driving reforms, and contributing to the advancement of high-quality development and Chinese modernization.

Emphasis was placed on the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee to enhance political ability, strengthen strict self-governance, and successfully accomplish all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.

Ecological Protection and Development of the Yellow River Basin

The meeting highlighted the critical significance of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, calling for the comprehensive enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law and outlining strategic initiatives to promote sustainability in the region.

Efforts will be made to systematically enhance water source conservation in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches. The meeting also stressed the need to ensure the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure.

Furthermore, the meeting urged the synchronization of the Yellow River's high-quality development with the strategic initiatives for large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. There was also a focus on improving the holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage and promoting the integration of culture and tourism development.
