As the Spring Festival approaches, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and personages without party affiliation. The annual gathering took place on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration among all sectors of society. He called on non-CPC political parties and individuals to focus on the nation's central tasks, serve the overall interests of the country, and utilize their unique strengths to foster broader support and consensus.
Emphasizing the need for proactive and impactful macro policies, Xi underscored China's commitment to high-quality development and greater self-reliance in science and technology. He stressed that these efforts are crucial for sustaining sound social and economic development in 2025.
\"The targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan must be achieved to lay a solid foundation for the next five years,\" Xi remarked. He encouraged non-CPC personages to contribute actively to deepening reforms, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi highlighted the challenges in protecting the Yangtze River ecosystem. He emphasized the need to tackle critical issues in supervision and implement effective measures for ecological preservation.
Xi also urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining entrepreneurial enthusiasm and confidence in development. He called for the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features to enhance the vitality of private businesses.
The Spring Festival, also known as the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. The festival is a time for family reunions and cultural celebrations across the country.
