Xi Jinping Calls for Unity at Spring Festival Gathering with Non-CPC Personages

Beijing, January 27—Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.

During an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, also Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his warm wishes. The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.

In his address, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macro policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025.

Xi called on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He urged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.

Underscoring the importance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi emphasized laying a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development and actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Xi also stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem's protection. He encouraged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.

The gathering highlighted the collaborative spirit and unity among various sectors of Chinese society, aiming to foster a shared vision for the country's future development.
