Beijing, January 26—In a warm and unifying gesture ahead of the Spring Festival, Chinese President Xi Jinping extended festive greetings to members of non-Communist political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other united front members. The annual gathering took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, symbolizing a collective embrace of the nation’s diverse political landscape.

President Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving China’s development goals for 2025. “We will implement more proactive and impactful macro policies, focus on high-quality development, and promote greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology,” he declared, underscoring the nation’s commitment to sustained social and economic progress.

The Spring Festival, marking the Chinese Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year. It is a time of reflection, renewal, and aspirations for the future. In this spirit, President Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with the central tasks of the nation. “Let us leverage our unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength,” he urged.

Highlighting the significance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), President Xi stressed the need to meet the targets set for 2025, laying a solid foundation for the next phase of China’s development. He encouraged non-CPC personages to mobilize all positive forces, contribute actively to the comprehensive deepening of reform, promote high-quality development, and participate in formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Addressing environmental concerns, President Xi underscored the importance of tackling critical and challenging problems in the supervision of the Yangtze River ecosystem’s protection. “Protecting our environment is a shared responsibility. We must ensure the Yangtze River remains a source of life and prosperity for generations to come,” he stated.

President Xi also called on the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He encouraged the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, fostering a business environment conducive to innovation and growth.

The gathering concluded with a shared commitment to unity and collaboration, setting a hopeful tone for the new year. As China embarks on its journey towards achieving its ambitious goals, the collective efforts of all political parties and social sectors are poised to play a pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future.
