Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended festive greetings on Monday to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.

During the annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi conveyed his well-wishes for the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year. He emphasized China’s commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies to sustain sound social and economic development in 2025.

Xi highlighted the importance of focusing on high-quality development and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology. He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength to serve the country’s central tasks.

Underscoring the significance of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi stressed the need to achieve its targets in 2025 and lay a solid foundation for the next five years. He encouraged non-CPC personages to mobilize all positive forces to advance development, contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, and actively participate in formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Addressing environmental concerns, Xi emphasized the need to tackle critical challenges in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He also urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.

The gathering reaffirmed a collective commitment to unity and collaboration across all sectors of society, aiming to achieve China’s ambitious development goals in the years ahead.
