As the joyous Spring Festival approaches, Chinese President Xi Jinping extended warm greetings to members of non-Communist Party of China (CPC) political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other united front representatives during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Speaking at the event on Monday, Xi, who is also the general secretary of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving the nation's goals. The Spring Festival, marking the start of the Lunar New Year, falls on January 29 this year.
Xi highlighted China's commitment to implementing proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies, focusing on high-quality development, and enhancing self-reliance in science and technology. He underlined that these efforts are crucial for sustaining robust social and economic growth in 2025 and beyond.
Calling upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation, Xi urged them to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overarching interests. He encouraged them to leverage their unique strengths to rally support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation's development.
Xi underscored the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), laying a solid foundation for the following five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, contribute to deepening reform, promote high-quality growth, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
In his remarks, Xi also stressed the need to tackle critical challenges in protecting the Yangtze River ecosystem. He called for enhanced supervision and concerted efforts to safeguard this vital natural resource.
Addressing the private sector, Xi noted that the ACFIC should guide entrepreneurs in maintaining their enthusiasm, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing modern corporate systems with Chinese characteristics. He emphasized the private sector's role in driving innovation and contributing to the country's economic vitality.
