Xi Jinping Calls for Unity and Development in Spring Festival Greetings

In a gesture of unity and collaboration, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended warm Spring Festival greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front. The annual gathering took place on Monday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, marking a significant moment ahead of the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.

Addressing the assembled dignitaries, Xi Jinping, who is also the Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, emphasized the nation's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He highlighted the focus on high-quality development and the advancement of self-reliance and strength in science and technology as crucial drivers for sustaining China's social and economic progress in 2025.

\"We must work together to achieve the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan and lay a solid foundation for the next five years,\" Xi Jinping stated. He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to concentrate on central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. By leveraging their unique strengths, he encouraged them to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation's development.

Xi Jinping underscored the importance of mobilizing all positive forces to advance development. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Environmental protection also featured prominently in his address. Xi Jinping stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem, calling for concerted efforts to safeguard the vital waterway's ecological integrity.

Turning his attention to the private sector, Xi Jinping urged the ACFIC to guide private businesses in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He emphasized the importance of establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, fostering a dynamic and robust private economy.

The Spring Festival gathering served as a platform to strengthen unity and collaboration among China's diverse political and social groups. As the country approaches the Lunar New Year, Xi Jinping's remarks set a tone of shared purpose and collective effort, aiming to inspire all sectors of society to contribute to the nation's goals.
