On Monday, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended heartfelt Spring Festival greetings to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and personages without party affiliation. The gathering took place at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, ahead of the Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.
Xi, who is also the Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration in his address. He emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies, focusing on high-quality development, and enhancing self-reliance in science and technology to sustain robust social and economic progress in 2025.
Calling on non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation, Xi urged them to align with central tasks and contribute their unique strengths. He encouraged them to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength to serve the nation's overall interests.
Xi underscored the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) and laying a solid foundation for the following five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, deepen reforms, promote high-quality growth, and contribute to the formulation of proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical challenges in protecting the Yangtze River ecosystem. He also called on the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
