Chinese President Xi Jinping extended festive greetings to non-Communist Party of China (CPC) personages ahead of the Spring Festival during an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Addressing members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other united front members, Xi emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving China's development goals.
Xi highlighted China's commitment to implementing proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies, focusing on high-quality development, and promoting greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic growth in 2025.
He called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to focus on central tasks, serve the country's overall interests, and leverage their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength.
Underscoring the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025), Xi stressed the need to lay a solid foundation for the next five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, contribute to deepening reform, promote high-quality growth, and formulate proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).
Xi also addressed critical challenges in protecting the Yangtze River ecosystem, emphasizing the need for effective supervision and problem-solving in environmental conservation efforts.
He urged the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, bolstering confidence in development, and establishing modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.
The Spring Festival, or Chinese Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year, is a time for renewal and reflection. Xi's remarks highlight the government's focus on unity and progress as the nation enters a pivotal year in its development journey.
