Xi Jinping Calls for Unity Ahead of Spring Festival with Non-CPC Leaders

Beijing, January 25, 2025 — In a gesture of unity and collaboration, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings to non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.

During an annual gathering held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his best wishes for the upcoming Lunar New Year, which falls on January 29 this year.

Addressing the assembled leaders and representatives, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies in the coming year. He underscored the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain the nation's social and economic progress in 2025.

"We must work together to achieve the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan and lay a solid foundation for the next five years," Xi stated. He called upon the non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to leverage their unique strengths, rally broader support, and pool wisdom and resources to serve the country's overall interests.

Xi highlighted the importance of mobilizing all positive forces to advance development. He encouraged contributions toward comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Environmental protection was also a key topic, as Xi stressed the need to address critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He urged concerted efforts to safeguard this vital natural resource.

Speaking directly to the ACFIC, Xi urged the organization to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He emphasized the importance of establishing and improving modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features.

The gathering served as a platform to reinforce unity and collaboration among China's diverse political landscape. As the nation prepares to celebrate the Spring Festival, Xi's call for collective effort underscores the shared vision of prosperity and advancement in the years ahead.
