Xi Jinping Calls for Unity Ahead of Spring Festival, Emphasizes High-Quality Development

Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, extended festive greetings on Monday to members of non-CPC political parties, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), personages without party affiliation, and other members of the united front ahead of the Spring Festival.

Speaking at an annual gathering at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Xi, who is also the Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, conveyed his warm wishes as the nation prepares to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year on January 29.

In his address, Xi emphasized China's commitment to implementing more proactive and impactful macroeconomic policies. He underscored the focus on high-quality development and the promotion of greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology to sustain sound social and economic progress in 2025.

Xi called upon non-CPC political parties, the ACFIC, and personages without party affiliation to align with central tasks and serve the country's overall interests. He highlighted the importance of leveraging their unique strengths to rally broader support, build consensus, and pool wisdom and strength for the nation's development.

The President underscored the significance of achieving the targets set in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025) by 2025, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent five years. He expressed hope that non-CPC personages would mobilize all positive forces to advance development, actively contribute to comprehensively deepening reform, promoting high-quality development, and formulating proposals for the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030).

Addressing environmental concerns, Xi stressed the need to tackle critical and challenging problems in supervising the protection of the Yangtze River ecosystem. He highlighted the importance of ecological conservation in sustaining long-term development.

Xi also called on the ACFIC to guide the private sector in maintaining enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and bolstering confidence in development. He encouraged the establishment and improvement of modern corporate systems with distinctive Chinese features, aiming to strengthen the private economy's role in national development.
