President Xi Leads CPC Meeting to Propel High-Quality Development

Beijing, September 25, 2025—President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a pivotal meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The gathering focused on reviewing significant reports and shaping the future course of China's development.

The meeting examined a comprehensive report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau after discussing the work reports submitted by the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). Additionally, the work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was reviewed.

A key highlight was the discussion on promoting ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. Recognizing the Yellow River's vital role in China's ecology and economy, the meeting emphasized the implementation of the Yellow River Protection Law to safeguard this crucial waterway.

The CPC Central Committee fully acknowledged the achievements of the leading Party members' groups over the past year and approved their strategic work plans for 2025. The meeting called on these groups to prioritize effective action, foster reform, and contribute to advancing high-quality development and the realization of Chinese modernization.

The Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was urged to enhance political capability, uphold strict self-governance, and diligently accomplish all tasks assigned by the CPC Central Committee.

Addressing ecological concerns, the meeting underscored the importance of systematic efforts to enhance water conservation in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches. Ensuring the safety of key infrastructures like dams and reservoirs was also highlighted.

The meeting advocated for synergizing the Yellow River's high-quality development with broader regional strategies, such as the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. Emphasis was placed on the holistic protection of cultural heritage and promoting the integration of culture and tourism to enrich the lives of residents and attract visitors.
