Beijing, (Date)—President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a significant meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The meeting focused on reviewing crucial reports and discussing strategies for advancing China's high-quality development and ecological initiatives.

The Political Bureau reviewed a report from its Standing Committee after hearing and discussing the work reports of the leading Party members' groups from key state bodies, including the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was also examined.

Emphasizing the achievements of the past year, the meeting fully recognized the efforts of these leading Party members' groups and approved their work plans for 2025. The meeting highlighted the importance of prioritizing effective implementation, fostering reforms, and contributing to China's high-quality development and modernization.

"In 2025, we must make it our priority to get things done, pool our strength to push forward reforms, and make new contributions to advancing high-quality development and Chinese modernization," the meeting noted.

The Secretariat was urged to enhance its political capabilities, strengthen strict self-governance, and effectively accomplish all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.

A significant focus of the meeting was on the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin. The Yellow River, often referred to as the "Mother River" of China, holds immense historical and cultural significance. The meeting called for the full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law and outlined comprehensive strategies for the basin's development.

Measures discussed included systematically enhancing water source conservation in the upper reaches, strengthening soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advancing wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches. Ensuring the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure was emphasized, alongside strengthening the synergy of the Yellow River's development with strategies for the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region.

The meeting also underscored the importance of preserving cultural heritage and promoting the integration of culture and tourism development within the Yellow River Basin. "We must improve the holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage and promote the integration of culture and tourism," the meeting urged.

This meeting reflects China's ongoing commitment to ecological conservation and sustainable development, aligning with the nation's broader goals of modernization and high-quality growth.
