The meeting focused on reviewing key reports and advancing strategies for ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.

The Political Bureau reviewed a comprehensive report from its Standing Committee after discussing the work reports of the leading Party members’ groups of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People’s Court (SPC), and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP). The Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee also presented its work report.

The meeting fully acknowledged the achievements of these leading Party members’ groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. Emphasis was placed on the importance of prioritizing key tasks, uniting efforts to push forward reforms, and contributing to high-quality development and the pursuit of Chinese modernization.

President Xi highlighted the significance of strengthening political ability and enforcing strict self-governance within the Party. The Secretariat was urged to diligently accomplish all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.

A key focus of the meeting was the ecological protection and high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin. The Political Bureau called for the comprehensive enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law and stressed the need for systematic enhancement of water source conservation in the upper reaches, soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches.

The meeting underscored the importance of ensuring the safety of critical infrastructure such as dams and reservoirs. It also emphasized the need to align the Yellow River’s high-quality development with broader strategies like the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region.

Additionally, efforts to improve the holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage were encouraged, alongside promoting the integration of cultural and tourism development in the region.
