President Xi Jinping Chairs CPC Leadership Meeting to Review Strategic Reports

On Monday, President Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a significant meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee in Beijing. The leadership gathered to review critical reports and discuss strategic opinions aimed at steering the nation's future development.

The meeting focused on reviewing a comprehensive report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. This followed in-depth discussions on the work reports submitted by the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), and the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.

One of the key topics was the promotion of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. The meeting highlighted the importance of the Yellow River Protection Law, emphasizing the need for its full enforcement to safeguard this vital waterway.

The leadership fully recognized the achievements of the leading Party members' groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. The meeting underscored the necessity for these groups to prioritize action, consolidate strengths to advance reforms, and contribute to the nation's high-quality development and the realization of Chinese modernization.

The Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was urged to enhance its political capability, strengthen strict self-governance, and diligently accomplish all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.

Regarding the Yellow River Basin, the meeting called for systematic efforts to enhance water source conservation in the upper reaches, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches. Ensuring the safety of crucial dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure was identified as a priority.

The leadership also emphasized the need to align the high-quality development of the Yellow River Basin with broader national strategies, such as the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. Additionally, there was a call to improve the holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage and promote the integration of culture and tourism development in the region.
