President Xi Chairs CPC Meeting to Review Work Reports and Promote Yellow River Development

Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday. The meeting focused on reviewing reports and opinions aimed at advancing high-quality development and ecological protection, particularly in the Yellow River Basin.

The Political Bureau assessed the work reports from the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was also reviewed.

The meeting recognized the significant achievements of these leading Party members' groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. It emphasized the importance of consolidating efforts to push forward reforms and contribute to high-quality development and the advancement of Chinese modernization.

In addressing the work of the Secretariat, the meeting called for enhancing political capacity, strengthening strict self-governance, and effectively accomplishing all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.

The meeting highlighted the critical role of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. It called for the comprehensive implementation of the Yellow River Protection Law and emphasized systematic efforts to enhance water source conservation in the upper reaches, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches.

Efforts were urged to ensure the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure within the basin. The meeting also stressed the need to align the Yellow River's development with strategies for the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region. Additionally, it highlighted the importance of protecting cultural heritage holistically and promoting the integration of culture and tourism development.
