President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a significant meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday.
The meeting reviewed reports from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau after evaluating the work reports of the leading Party members’ groups of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People’s Court (SPC), and the Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP). The work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was also examined.
Also on the agenda were opinions on comprehensively promoting ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.
The meeting fully recognized the efforts of the leading Party members’ groups of the five state institutions over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025.
Looking ahead to 2025, the leading Party members’ groups were urged to prioritize action, unite efforts to push forward reforms, and make new contributions to advancing high-quality development and Chinese modernization.
The Secretariat was encouraged to boost political capability, strengthen strict self-governance, and diligently accomplish all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.
The meeting highlighted the significance of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin, calling for the full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law.
Efforts should focus on systematically enhancing water source conservation in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, strengthening soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advancing wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches.
Emphasis was placed on ensuring the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure, and strengthening the synergy of the Yellow River’s high-quality development with strategies for large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region.
The meeting also stressed the importance of improving the holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage and promoting the integration of culture and tourism development.
