Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee on Monday.
The meeting reviewed a report from the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau after hearing and discussing the work reports of the leading Party members' groups of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), and the work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.
Opinions on comprehensively promoting ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin were also reviewed during the meeting.
Recognizing Achievements and Setting Plans for 2025
The meeting fully acknowledged the work of the leading Party members' groups of the NPC Standing Committee, the State Council, the CPPCC National Committee, the SPC, and the SPP over the past year, approving their work plans for 2025.
In 2025, these leading Party members' groups are tasked with prioritizing effective action, uniting efforts to push forward reforms, and contributing to advancing high-quality development and Chinese modernization, the meeting noted.
The Secretariat was urged to boost political capability, strengthen strict self-governance, and accomplish all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.
Focus on the Yellow River Basin
The significance of ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin was highlighted. The meeting called for promoting the full enforcement of the Yellow River Protection Law.
Efforts should be made to systematically enhance water source conservation in the upper reaches, strengthen soil and water conservation in the middle reaches, and advance wetland protection and ecological governance in the lower reaches.
The meeting also emphasized ensuring the safety of important dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure. Strengthening the synergy of the Yellow River's high-quality development with strategies for large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region was urged.
Additionally, improving the holistic and systematic protection of cultural heritage and promoting the integration of culture and tourism development were underscored.
