President Xi Chairs CPC Leadership Meeting to Drive High-Quality Development

Chinese President Xi Jinping, also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, chaired a significant meeting of the CPC Political Bureau on Monday. The meeting focused on reviewing essential reports and opinions aimed at propelling China's high-quality development and ecological conservation efforts.

The Political Bureau reviewed a report from its Standing Committee after discussing work reports from leading Party members' groups of key state institutions, including the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), the State Council, the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), the Supreme People's Court (SPC), and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP). The work report of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was also examined.

A pivotal point of the meeting was the review of opinions on comprehensively promoting ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin. Recognizing the significance of this region, the meeting underscored the need for enforcing the Yellow River Protection Law and implementing systematic measures to enhance water conservation, soil preservation, and ecological governance across the river's upper, middle, and lower reaches.

The meeting fully acknowledged the accomplishments of the leading Party members' groups over the past year and approved their work plans for 2025. Emphasis was placed on prioritizing actionable tasks, fostering reforms, and making substantial contributions to China's modernization efforts.

The Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was urged to boost its political capabilities, strengthen self-governance, and effectively accomplish all tasks entrusted by the CPC Central Committee.

Furthermore, the meeting called for ensuring the safety of vital dams, reservoirs, and infrastructure along the Yellow River. It highlighted the importance of aligning the river's high-quality development with broader national strategies, such as the large-scale development of the western region and the rise of the central region.

Efforts to protect cultural heritage holistically and systematically were also discussed, with a focus on promoting the integration of culture and tourism development in the Yellow River Basin.
