China’s Wei Yaxin and Jiang Zhenbang Triumph in Mixed Doubles at India Open

Chinese badminton duo Wei Yaxin and Jiang Zhenbang secured a commanding victory at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) India Open on Sunday, claiming the mixed doubles title in straight games.

Seeded second in the tournament, Wei and Jiang showcased exceptional teamwork and skill to defeat French pair Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue with a score of 21-18, 21-17 in a match that lasted just 43 minutes.

“This championship is a great inspiration for us,” Wei expressed after the match. “We faced a lot of difficulties this week, but we overcame them all.”

In the women’s singles, World No. 1 An Se-young of the Republic of Korea continued her stellar form by overpowering Thailand’s Pornpawee Chochuwong 21-12, 21-9, capturing her second consecutive title following last week’s triumph at the Malaysia Open.

The men’s singles crown was claimed by two-time Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark, who dominated Lee Cheuk-yiu of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region 21-16, 21-8.

Japan’s Arisa Igarashi and Ayako Sakuramoto emerged victorious in the women’s doubles final, defeating Kim Hye-jeong and Kong Hee-yong of the Republic of Korea 21-15, 21-13.

In the men’s doubles final, Malaysia’s third-seeded pair Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin overcame the Republic of Korea duo Kim Won-ho and Seo Seung-jae 21-15, 13-21, 21-16 to ascend to the top of the podium.
