China’s Vice President Han Zheng Meets U.S. Vice President-elect J.D. Vance to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng expressed China\u2019s readiness to work with the United States to promote the steady, sound, and sustainable development of bilateral ties during a meeting with U.S. Vice President-elect J.D. Vance on Sunday in Washington, D.C.

Han is visiting the U.S. capital to attend the inauguration ceremony of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump on Monday as President Xi Jinping\u2019s special representative at the invitation of the U.S. side.

During the meeting, Han conveyed President Xi\u2019s greetings to President-elect Trump and extended congratulations to Vance on his election. He highlighted the recent important phone call between Xi and Trump, during which the two leaders reached significant common understandings on advancing China-U.S. relations in the next stage.

“China is ready to work with the U.S. to follow the strategic guidance of leader-level engagement and implement the important common understandings reached between President Xi and President-elect Trump,” Han stated. He emphasized the mutual aspirations of both countries to achieve their respective development goals and dreams.

Han noted that as long as both sides adhere to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, they can help each other succeed, benefit both nations, and contribute to world peace and development.

Addressing the economic and trade relationship, Han acknowledged that despite some disagreements and frictions, China and the U.S. share enormous common interests and have vast potential for cooperation. He urged strengthening dialogue and consultations to enhance mutual understanding and cooperation in this area.

Vance, in response, asked Han to convey President-elect Trump\u2019s cordial greetings to President Xi and noted the productive conversation between the two leaders during their recent phone call. He emphasized the importance of the economic and trade relationship to both countries.

“China\u2019s influence on international affairs is rising, and the U.S. is ready to develop a productive relationship with China in the coming years,” Vance said. He expressed willingness to strengthen dialogue and cooperation on international and regional issues and to work with China to promote world peace and stability.
