Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his commitment to strengthening ties with Vietnam, highlighting the importance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance. On Saturday, President Xi exchanged congratulations with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
President Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the deep-rooted friendship between the two socialist neighbors. “China and Vietnam represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,” he stated.
Reflecting on the history of bilateral ties, Xi noted that over the past 75 years, both countries have stood side by side, supporting each other in their struggles for national independence and liberation. He added, “So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers,” capturing the essence of the relationship between the two parties and nations.
In their pursuit of socialism, China and Vietnam have learned from each other and advanced together, deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation. Xi highlighted that sharing the same ideals and aspirations is the most striking feature of their relationship.
Recalling his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi mentioned that both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, elevating their relations to a new stage.
“As the world undergoes unprecedented changes, China and Vietnam’s commitment to the path of socialism bears upon the future of our parties and countries, and the global socialist cause,” Xi remarked. He underscored the significance of their collaboration for regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
President Xi expressed his readiness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders, seizing the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He called for keeping in mind their original mission and forging ahead on the journey toward socialist modernization, aiming to bring greater benefits to the peoples of both nations and contribute to human development and progress.
