Xi Jinping Vows Stronger China-Vietnam Ties for Shared Future

Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his commitment to strengthening relations with Vietnam, emphasizing the importance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance.

In a message exchanged on Saturday with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, President Xi highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between the two socialist neighbors. Marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, he noted that China and Vietnam have a history of supporting each other in the pursuit of national independence and liberation.

“So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers,” Xi said, underscoring the strong bond and shared ideals that characterize the relationship between the two countries.

President Xi recalled his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, during which both sides pledged to enhance their partnership. He expressed his readiness to work with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and practical cooperation, elevating bilateral relations to a new stage.

Amid unprecedented global changes, Xi stressed that the continued adherence to the socialist path by China and Vietnam holds significant implications for the future of the two parties and countries as well as the global socialist cause. He underscored the importance of peace, stability, development, and prosperity for the region and the world at large.

Looking ahead, President Xi emphasized the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He called for both countries to remember their original mission and advance toward socialist modernization, aiming to deliver more benefits to their peoples and contribute to human development and progress.
