Xi Jinping Seeks Stronger China-Vietnam Ties for Shared Future on 75th Anniversary

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for deeper strategic mutual trust and strengthened practical cooperation with Vietnam, aiming to achieve new milestones in building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic importance.

In a message exchanged on Saturday with Vietnamese leaders—General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and President Luong Cuong—on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Xi emphasized the profound friendship between the two neighboring socialist nations.

\"China and Vietnam represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,\" Xi said, highlighting the historical bonds formed as both countries fought side by side for national independence and liberation.

Xi, who is also the general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, noted that the phrase \"So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers\" vividly portrays the relations between the two parties and countries.

He stressed that advancing socialism has seen both nations learn from each other and move forward hand in hand, deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation. \"China and Vietnam share the same ideals and pursue a shared future,\" Xi remarked, calling this the most striking feature of their bilateral relations.

Recalling his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi said both sides pledged to elevate their relationship to a new stage, working towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance.

Amid unprecedented global changes, Xi underscored the importance of China and Vietnam continuing to faithfully follow the socialist path. He stated that this commitment impacts not only the future of their own parties and countries but also the global socialist cause, contributing significantly to regional and world peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

Xi affirmed his dedication to strengthening bilateral ties and expressed willingness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders. He suggested seizing the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges to remember their original mission and advance towards socialist modernization.

By enhancing cooperation, Xi believes both nations can deliver greater benefits to their peoples and make important contributions to revitalizing the global socialist cause, as well as promoting human development and progress.
