BEIJING—Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his commitment on Saturday to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation with Vietnam, aiming for new achievements in building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
In a message exchanged with Vietnamese leaders General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and President Luong Cuong on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, President Xi highlighted the profound friendship and shared socialist ideals that bind China and Vietnam.
\"China and Vietnam, two friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,\" Xi stated. He recalled that since establishing diplomatic relations 75 years ago, both nations have \"fought side by side and supported each other\" in their struggles for national independence and liberation.
Xi emphasized that the statement \"So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers\" vividly portrays the relations between the two parties and countries. He noted that in advancing socialism, China and Vietnam have learned from each other and progressed hand in hand, deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation.
Reflecting on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi mentioned that both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, elevating bilateral relations to a new stage. \"China and Vietnam share the same ideals and pursue a shared future, which is the most striking feature of the relations between our two parties and countries,\" he remarked.
Amid unprecedented global changes, Xi underscored the importance of both countries continuing to follow the path of socialism. He stated that this commitment has a bearing on the future of the two parties and countries, the global socialist cause, and holds great significance for regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
\"I attach great importance to the growth of bilateral relations and am willing to work with Vietnamese leaders to take the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges,\" Xi said. He expressed a desire to \"keep in mind the original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization,\" aiming to deliver more benefits to the peoples of both nations and contribute to human development and progress.
