Xi Jinping Pledges Stronger China-Vietnam Ties on 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his commitment to enhancing the relationship between China and Vietnam, marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two neighboring socialist nations. In a message exchanged with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong on Saturday, Xi emphasized the strategic significance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.

“China and Vietnam represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,” Xi said. He highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between the two countries, stating that since establishing diplomatic relations 75 years ago, both nations have fought side by side and supported each other in their quests for national independence and liberation.

“The profound friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers, has become the most vivid portrayal of the relations between our two parties and countries,” Xi remarked.

Xi noted that in advancing socialism, China and Vietnam have learned from each other and progressed hand in hand, deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation. He stressed that sharing the same ideals and pursuing a shared future is the most striking feature of their bilateral relations.

Reflecting on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi recalled the mutual pledge to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, elevating the relationship between the two parties and countries to a new stage.

“As changes in the world, the times, and history are unfolding in unprecedented ways, China and Vietnam continuing to follow the path of socialism in good faith bears on the future of our parties and countries as well as the global socialist cause,” Xi stated. He added that this commitment is of great significance to peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and the world at large.

Xi affirmed his dedication to the growth of bilateral relations and expressed willingness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders during the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He emphasized keeping in mind the original mission and forging ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization to deliver more benefits to the people of both countries and contribute significantly to revitalizing the global socialist cause and promoting human development and progress.
