Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his readiness to work closely with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation between the two nations. In a message exchanged on Saturday to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, Xi emphasized the importance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
Xi, who also serves as the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, exchanged congratulations with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong. He highlighted the profound friendship and solidarity that has characterized China-Vietnam relations over the past seven and a half decades.
\"Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, the two sides have fought side by side and supported each other in their struggle for national independence and liberation,\" Xi said. He added that the phrase \"So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers\" has become the most vivid portrayal of the relations between the two parties and countries.
Xi underscored that both China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future. The two countries have learned from each other and advanced socialism hand in hand, deepening their comprehensive strategic cooperation. \"China and Vietnam share the same ideals and pursue a shared future, which is the most striking feature of the relations between the two parties and countries,\" he said.
Reflecting on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi noted that both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, elevating bilateral relations to a new stage. He emphasized that as unprecedented changes in the world, times, and history unfold, the continued commitment of China and Vietnam to the path of socialism bears on the future of both parties and countries, as well as the global socialist cause.
\"It is of great significance to the peace, stability, development, and prosperity of the region and the world at large,\" Xi stated. He expressed his willingness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders, taking the opportunity of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges, to keep in mind their original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization.
