Xi Jinping Pledges Stronger China-Vietnam Partnership on 75th Anniversary

Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his commitment to deepening strategic mutual trust and practical cooperation with Vietnam, as the two nations celebrate the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic ties. In messages exchanged with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi emphasized the significance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic importance.

\"China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,\" Xi said. He highlighted the historical bonds forged over decades, noting that both countries have \"fought side by side and supported each other\" in their struggles for national independence and liberation. \"So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers,\" he added, underscoring the close ties between the two parties and nations.

Xi recalled his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, during which both sides pledged to elevate their relationship. \"China and Vietnam share the same ideals and pursue a shared future, which is the most striking feature of the relations between our two parties and countries,\" he stated.

Amid unprecedented changes in the world, Xi emphasized the importance of the socialist path both countries are following. \"Continuing to follow in good faith the path of socialism has a bearing on the future of our parties and countries as well as the future of the global socialist cause,\" he said. He noted that this cooperation is significant for regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.

Looking ahead, Xi expressed his readiness to work with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. \"We should keep in mind our original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization,\" he urged, aiming to deliver greater benefits to both peoples and contribute significantly to global development and progress.
