Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Ties Towards Shared Future

As Vietnam and China commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations, Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for deeper strategic mutual trust and practical cooperation between the two nations. In a message exchanged with Vietnamese leaders, Xi emphasized the significance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.

On Saturday, Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, exchanged congratulations with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong. He highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between China and Vietnam, referring to the countries as “comrades and brothers” who have supported each other in their struggles for national independence and liberation over the past 75 years.

“China and Vietnam, two friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,” Xi stated. He recalled his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, where both sides pledged to elevate their relationship to new heights by working towards a shared future.

Amid unprecedented global changes, Xi stressed the importance of both nations continuing on the path of socialism. He noted that their cooperation not only impacts the future of the two countries but also has significant implications for global peace, stability, and the advancement of the socialist cause worldwide.

Xi expressed his readiness to work with Vietnamese leaders during the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges, seizing the opportunity of the 75th anniversary to advance socialist modernization. “By keeping in mind our original mission and forging ahead on this new journey, we can deliver more benefits to our peoples and contribute to human development and progress,” he said.
