Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Ties Towards a Shared Future

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for deeper cooperation and stronger ties between China and Vietnam, emphasizing a shared future of strategic significance. On Saturday, Xi, who also serves as General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, exchanged congratulations with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Xi highlighted that China and Vietnam, as friendly socialist neighbors, represent a community with a shared future that holds strategic importance. Since establishing diplomatic ties 75 years ago, the two countries have supported each other in their struggles for national independence and liberation. Xi noted that the phrase “So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers” vividly portrays the strong relationship between the two parties and nations.

In their pursuit of socialist advancement, China and Vietnam have learned from each other and progressed hand in hand, deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation. Xi emphasized that sharing the same ideals and pursuing a shared future is the most striking feature of their bilateral relations.

Reflecting on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi recalled that both sides committed to building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance, elevating relations to a new stage. He underscored that amid unprecedented global changes, continuing to follow the path of socialism is crucial for the future of both parties and countries, as well as the global socialist cause.

Xi expressed his commitment to working with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He called for maintaining the original mission and forging ahead on the journey toward socialist modernization, aiming to bring more benefits to the peoples of both nations and contribute significantly to global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
