Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Ties on 75th Diplomatic Anniversary

Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his commitment to strengthen ties with Vietnam, emphasizing the shared future between the two socialist neighbors. On Saturday, in celebration of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, Xi conveyed his readiness to deepen strategic mutual trust and enhance practical cooperation with Vietnamese leaders.

In his message to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi highlighted the profound friendship that has developed over decades. “So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers,” he remarked, noting that this sentiment vividly portrays the relationship between the two parties and countries.

Reflecting on the history of their alliance, Xi recalled that since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, China and Vietnam have fought side by side and supported each other in their struggles for national independence and liberation. He emphasized that advancing socialism together has deepened their comprehensive strategic cooperation.

Xi also reminisced about his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, where both sides pledged to build a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance, elevating bilateral relations to a new stage. He underscored the importance of both countries continuing on the path of socialism amid unprecedented global changes, stating that it bears on the future of the two parties and countries, as well as the global socialist cause.

The Chinese president expressed his willingness to seize the opportunity of the 75th anniversary and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges to work closely with Vietnamese leaders. He stressed the importance of keeping in mind the original mission and forging ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization, aiming to deliver greater benefits to both peoples and contribute to human development and progress.
