Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Ties on 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

On Saturday, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his commitment to strengthening China-Vietnam relations as the two nations celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties. In messages exchanged with Vietnamese leaders, Xi emphasized the importance of deepening strategic mutual trust and enhancing practical cooperation between the two socialist neighbors.

Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, highlighted the profound friendship that has developed over the decades. “China and Vietnam represent a community with a shared future that carries strategic significance,” he stated. “Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, our two sides have fought side by side and supported each other in the struggle for national independence and liberation.”

He recalled his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, during which both sides pledged to work towards building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future. This commitment, Xi noted, has elevated relations between the two parties and countries to a new stage.

Amid unprecedented global changes, Xi emphasized the significance of both nations continuing to follow the path of socialism. “This has a bearing on the future of our two parties and countries as well as the future of the global socialist cause,” he remarked. “It is of great significance to the peace, stability, development, and prosperity of the region and the world at large.”

Looking ahead, Xi expressed his readiness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. “We should keep in mind our original mission and forge ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization,” he urged, aiming to deliver greater benefits to both peoples and contribute to human development and progress.
