Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Ties on 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and Vietnam, Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for deeper strategic mutual trust and strengthened practical cooperation between the two nations. In a message exchanged with Vietnamese leaders on Saturday, Xi emphasized the importance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that holds strategic significance.

Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, conveyed his remarks to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong. He highlighted the historical bond between the two socialist neighbors, noting that China and Vietnam represent a community with shared aspirations and destinies.

“Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, our two countries have stood side by side, supporting each other in the struggle for national independence and liberation,” Xi stated. He added that the phrase “So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China because we are both comrades and brothers” vividly portrays the relationship between the two parties and nations.

Xi reflected on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, during which both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, elevating bilateral relations to a new level. He emphasized that as the world undergoes unprecedented changes, the continued commitment of China and Vietnam to the path of socialism significantly impacts not only the future of both countries but also the global socialist cause, regional peace, and prosperity.

The Chinese President expressed his commitment to working with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He called for remembering the original mission and advancing on the path toward socialist modernization to bring greater benefits to both peoples and contribute to human development and progress.
