Xi Jinping Calls for Stronger China-Vietnam Ties on 75th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations

Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his readiness to work closely with Vietnamese leaders to deepen strategic mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation between the two nations. Marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties, Xi emphasized building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

In messages exchanged with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong on Saturday, Xi highlighted the profound friendship between China and Vietnam. He noted that as friendly socialist neighbors, the two countries represent a community with a shared future.

“Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 75 years ago, our nations have fought side by side and supported each other in the struggle for national independence and liberation,” Xi remarked. “So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers.”

Xi reflected on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, where both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with strategic significance, elevating bilateral relations to a new stage. He underscored that as the world undergoes unprecedented changes, continued adherence to the path of socialism by both countries bears on their future and the global socialist cause.

“The cooperation between China and Vietnam is of great significance to peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and the world at large,” Xi stated. He expressed his commitment to working with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges.

Xi called for keeping in mind the original mission and forging ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization. “Together, we can deliver more benefits to our peoples and make important contributions to revitalizing the world socialist cause, as well as advancing human development and progress,” he concluded.
