Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for deeper strategic mutual trust and practical cooperation between China and Vietnam, emphasizing the importance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance. His remarks came on Saturday as the two nations celebrated the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
In messages exchanged with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, reflected on the longstanding friendship between the two socialist neighbors. He stated, “So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China, because we are both comrades and brothers,” highlighting the deep bonds forged over decades.
Since establishing diplomatic relations 75 years ago, China and Vietnam have stood side by side, supporting each other in their struggles for national independence and liberation. Xi noted that the shared ideals and pursuit of socialism are the most striking features of the relations between the two parties and countries.
Recalling his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi emphasized that both sides pledged to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future, elevating their relations to a new stage. He underscored that as changes in the world unfold in unprecedented ways, the steadfast commitment of China and Vietnam to the path of socialism significantly impacts the future of both nations and contributes to global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
Looking ahead, Xi expressed his readiness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders to seize the opportunity presented by the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He called for keeping in mind their original mission and forging ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization, aiming to deliver greater benefits to the peoples of both nations and make important contributions to human development and progress.
