On Saturday, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his commitment to deepening strategic mutual trust and strengthening practical cooperation with Vietnam. Marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, President Xi emphasized the significance of building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.
In messages exchanged with To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, and Vietnamese President Luong Cuong, Xi highlighted the profound friendship and historical ties that unite China and Vietnam. “So profound is the friendship between Vietnam and China because we are both comrades and brothers,” he remarked, underscoring the close relationship forged through shared struggles for national independence and liberation.
Since establishing diplomatic ties 75 years ago, China and Vietnam have supported each other in their respective paths toward socialism. President Xi noted that both countries share common ideals and aspirations, which serve as the cornerstone of their comprehensive strategic cooperation.
Reflecting on his successful visit to Vietnam in 2023, Xi recalled the joint pledge to work towards a China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance. This commitment has elevated the relationship between the two parties and countries to a new level.
“As changes of the world, of the times and of history are unfolding in unprecedented ways, China and Vietnam continuing to follow in good faith the path of socialism has a bearing on the future of the two parties and countries as well as the future of the global socialist cause,” Xi stated. He emphasized the importance of their collaboration for regional and global peace, stability, development, and prosperity.
Looking ahead, President Xi expressed his readiness to collaborate with Vietnamese leaders during the China-Vietnam Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He called for remembering their shared mission and forging ahead on the new journey toward socialist modernization, aiming to deliver greater benefits to both peoples and contribute to human development and progress worldwide.
